Cynthia Bowers-Lee, M.D., FAAEM
Orthopedic Hospital

Dr. Bowers-Lee received her Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and Arts in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Bowers-Lee completed her residency at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Bowers-Lee joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in January 2005 and her primary practice location is Cape Fear Hospital, here in Wilmington.

Dr. Bowers-Lee's hobbies include boating, running, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Jeffrey, and their family.

 



Michael W. J. Brown, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial
  

Dr. Brown received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California and an Doctor of Medicine Degree from Loma Linda University of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. He completed his residency at Vidant Medical Center/East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing at the beach, cooking and traveling.  

 



Brian Collins, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial
  

Dr. Collins received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. He completed his residency from Jefferson-Aria Health Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he was chief resident. Dr. Collins will be working at both Pender Memorial Hospital and New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.  

 



Samuel B. Collins, M.D., FAAEM
Orthopedic Hospital

 A native of Wilmington, Dr. Collins received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at East Carolina University and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Collins has practiced with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 1999 and is based at Orthopedic Hospital (formerly known as Cape Fear Hospital). 

His hobbies include computers and photography. 

 



S. Bryan Durham, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional
      
ED North Medical Director

A native of Boone, NC, Dr. Durham received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at The University of Pittsburgh Affiliated Residency in Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Durham has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 1998. His primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington, where he also serves as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department.

 



James J. Epperly, Jr., D.O., FAAEM 
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Pender Memorial Medical Director

Dr. Epperly Jr. received his Bachelor of Arts from Beaver College in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Physical Therapy from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. He completed his residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. After residency, he served four years of active duty service with the US Navy and was deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as an Emergency Medicine physician with a shock trauma platoon.

He enjoys working out, running, playing tennis and cooking with his wife.

 



 Carrie A. Fales, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Fales attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan for her undergraduate education, earning an individualized concentration Bachelor of Arts Degree entitled "Health Care and Medicine in Society" in the College of Literature, Science and Arts. Following undergraduate education, she worked as an EMT in Saginaw, Michigan and in the CT Department of a local hospital. She then earned her Medical Doctorate degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She moved to Charlotte, NC for her emergency medicine residency at Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Fales joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in 2013 and practices primarily at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

 



James J. Foutty, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Foutty received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Ohio University-COM/Doctors Hospital, located in Columbus, Ohio, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Foutty joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in October 2008, is primarily practicing at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Foutty enjoys spending time with his family and the Carolina sunshine.

 



Matthew P. Geib, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial 

Dr. Geib received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Osteopathic degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at Wellspan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania in emergency medicine. 

In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and family time with his beautiful wife and three children..

 



M. Suzanne Hampson, M.D., FAAEM
Orthopedic Hospital

Dr. Hamspon received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, also in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Hampson completed her Emergency Medicine residency through the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where she was Chief Resident.

In her spare time Dr. Hampson enjoys time with her family, gardening, running, and hiking.

Dr. Hampson joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in July 2010 and is based primarily at Cape Fear Hospital.

 



James Hoffman, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. Hoffman received his Bachelor of Science degree from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and his Doctor of Osteopathic degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. He completed his emergency medicine residency from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, Dr. Hoffman enjoys flying, traveling, hiking/camping, snowboarding and wilderness medicine.



Allen J. Holmes, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. Holmes received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Dr. Holmes joined East Carolina Emergency Physicians in 2012 and practices at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Holmes interests include international medical missions, fitness, hiking, and kayaking.

           


Russell A. Incatasciato, D.O., FACEP
New Hanover Regional

    President, ECEP II, P.A.

Dr. Incatasciato received a BS degree in Biology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, and received his DO degree from Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Miami, Florida. Dr. Incatasciato completed his internship as well as his residency at Ohio University / Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Incatasciato joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in December 2006, and his primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

His hobbies include all water sports, bicycling, photography and travel.




Donald L. McLamb, Jr., M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. McLamb received a BS degree in Biology from Davidson University in Davidson, North Carolina, and his MD degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He completed his residency at Wishard Memorial Hospital and Methodist Hospital at Indiana, both in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. McLamb's primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

When not in the Emergency Department, Dr. McLamb enjoys karate, boating, beach music dancing, and swimming.

                       



Brian J. McGrath, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. McGrath received a BA from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and a diploma in Pre-Medical Studies from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, then when on to complete his DO from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City as the Academic Chief Resident. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. McGrath is a decorated veteran who severed as a Major in the U.S. Army and served in Kandahar, Afghanistan as a Battalion Surgeon with 1st Armored Division and 7th Special Forces Group.

 



John F. Mearns, D.O., FAAEM

New Hanover Regional

Dr. Mearns received his Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina and his Doctor of Osteopathy from Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Dr. Mearns completed a traditional rotation Internship through Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

Dr. Mearns joined ECEP II, PA in December 2010 and is currently based at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

 



Michael P. Moulton, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

A native of Southern California, Dr. Moulton received a BS degree in Biology from the University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, California, an MS degree in Molecular Biology from San Diego State University, San Diego, California, and his MD degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Moulton has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 1994. He is also currently the Medical Director of Medac Health Services, P.A., which owns and operates urgent care and occupational health centers in Wilmington, as well as the Medical Director for Pender County EMS. Dr. Moulton's primary practice location is new Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

Additionally, Dr. Moulton is a member of the North Carolina Medical Society’s Board of Directors and is a former President of the North Carolina Medical Society.

His hobbies include auto racing, skiing, boating, and surfing. He also enjoys family time with his wife and two children.

 



Sean P. O'Brien, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. O'Brien received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania, and his Doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Upon completion of his transitional internship, Dr. O'Brien was sent to US Naval Flight Surgeon training in Pensacola FL, then served as the flight surgeon for VX-31 in China Lake, CA. Dr. O'Brien then returned to finish his emergency medicine residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and was subsequently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Bremerton, WA, dedicating a total of over ten years of service to the Navy.

Dr. O'Brien is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is currently based primarily at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Dr. O'Brien joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in the fall of 2009.

 



Michael R. Ott, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Ott received a BS degree in Biology from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, New York, and his DO degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He completed his residency at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Ott is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 2001. His primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

Dr. Ott's hobbies include hiking/camping, hunting, travel, and fishing.

 



Max M. Palatnik, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial 

Dr. Palatnik received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Masters in Biology from the Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, he received his MD from St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Palatnik completed his residency from Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. 


Dr. Palatnik's hobbies include spending time with his wife Hannah, their two Boston Terriers and traveling.

 



Kevin E. Potts, M.D., FAAEM

Treasurer, ECEP II, P.A.

Dr. Potts received a BA degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia in Columbia, Missouri and his MD degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Potts has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 1998, and his primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

 



 Christopher Reavill, M.D., FAAEM
Pender Memorial/New Hanover Regional

Dr. Reavill received his BS from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Reavill completed his residency from Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Dr. Reavill comes to us from South Carolina as the Chief of Medicine at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, which made it an easy transition to relocate to Wilmington.

Dr. Reavill's hobbies include surfing, golfing and travel.

 



Kevin J. Reese, M.D., FAAEM
Orthopedic Hospital

Medical Director

Dr. Reese received a BS degree in Mammalian Physiology with a minor in Classical Music from the University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, California. He received his MD degree from the Finch University of Health Sciences, the Chicago Medical School, at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. He completed an Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr Reese has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since the summer of 1997.

Dr Reese's loves spending most of his free time with wife and 3 children. His hobbies include competitive shooting, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, surfing, and the beach.

 



Adam W. Saucerman, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. Saucerman pursued a Doctor of Pharmacy from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia prior to going on to complete his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University, School of Medicine also in Morgantown, West Virginia. He completed his Residency program at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Dr. Saucerman will primarily be practicing in the emergency department at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw, NC.

In his spare time he enjoys family, good food, fishing and exercise.

 



Joshua Sawyer, M.D., FAAEM
Pender Memorial/New Hanover Regional
A native of New Bern, NC, Dr. Sawyer received a double major in Biological Sciences and International Health from North Carolina State University and his MD from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He completed his residency program at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Dr. Sawyer's interest include fishing, snow skiing, international travel, photography and spending time with his family.

 



Eric F. Silman, M.D., FAAEM
Pender Memorial/New Hanover Regional
Dr. Silman received his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from the University of California, Irvine. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco/San Francisco General Hospital in San Francisco, California where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Silman is board certified in Emergency Medicine. Prior to joining ECEP, Dr. Silman was active in academic medicine, serving leadership roles for residency and medical student programs, and he continues to be active in Emergency Medicine education, lecturing nationally for various continuing medical education courses.

In his spare time, Dr. Silman enjoys playing drums, cooking, and spending time with his family.  

 



Brandon L. Smallwood, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. Smallwood hails from Pikeville, Kentucky. He received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Kentucky and his MD from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Dr. Smallwood completed his emergency medicine program from Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC through East Carolina University/ Brody School of Medicine.

Dr. Smallwood is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and practices at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Pender Memorial Hospitals.

His interests are spending time with family and friends, boating, fishing, travel, hiking and camping.

 



Todd C. Snyder, M.D., FAAEM 
Orthopedic Hospital

Dr. Snyder received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a minor in Spanish from the University of Alaska, in Fairbanks, Alaska. He then went on to receive his MD degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Snyder completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at York Hospital / Penn State in York, PA., and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Snyder joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in January 2013 and will be practicing primarily at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, also known as NHRMC Orthopedic Hospital.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Snyder enjoys spending time with his family enjoying reading, fishing, skiing, hiking, and boating.



Andrew M. Terzian, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Terzian received his BS degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. He received his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. Dr. Terzian completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Martin Luther King/ Drew University Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 2004.

Dr. Terzian has practiced with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since July 2004, and his primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

Dr. Terzian's interests and hobbies include playing the drums, boating, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with his family.

 



John T. Tseng, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Tseng received a BS degree in Bioengineering at the University of California at San Diego in San Diego, CA, and his MD degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt lake City, Utah. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Saint Vincent/Mercy Medical Center/The Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Tseng has practiced with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians since 1999, and his primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Tseng's hobbies include tennis, golfing, and computers.

 



Anne Verlangieri, M.D., FAAEM
Pender Memorial 

Dr. Verlangieri received her Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine from East Carolina University/Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC, where she was chief resident. Dr. Verlangieri will be primarily working at Pender Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Burgaw, NC.

Her interests include film making, screenwriting and aerospace medicine. 

 



P. Bradford Watkins, III, M.D., FAAEM
Orthopedic Hospital

Dr. Watkins received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Dr. Watkins completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt University Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Watkins joined ECEP II, PA, in May 2012 and practices in the Emergency Department at Cape Fear Hospital.

In his spare time, Dr. Watkins enjoys time with family and friends, playing golf, basketball, weight training, and music. He is very happy to be back home in Wilmington.

 



Hamilton J. Wells, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Wells received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, his Master of Science degree in Physiology from Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Wells completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, where he was Chief Resident.

Dr. Wells joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in July 2010 and is currently based primarily at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Wells enjoys coaching athletics, salt water fishing, fly fishing, surfing, SCUBA diving, road biking, mountain biking, weight training, rock climbing, mountaineering, telmark skiing, snow boarding, and international travel.

 



Benjamin S. Wiles, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional/Pender Memorial

Dr. Wiles received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in General Chemistry from Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He then went on to complete his internship and residency from the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

Dr. Wiles served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force for three years after his internship before returning to Charleston to complete his residency. He served one tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan during his three years at Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, NC.

Dr. Wiles practices at New Hanover Regional Medical Center Emergency Department here in Wilmington and Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.

In his spare time he enjoys hiking, running, road and mountain biking.

 



Randall N. Willard, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine

Dr. Willard received his BS in Chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, and in 1996 he received his Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Willard also received his MD degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Willard completed his Emergency Medicine residency program at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems in Richmond, Virginia in 2004, and has been practicing with ECEP since January 2006. His primary practice location is New Hanover Regional Medical Center, here in Wilmington.

In his spare time, Dr. Willard enjoys cooking, fishing, and spending time with his family.

 



De B. Winter, III, M.D., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Medical Director

Dr. Winter received his Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and his Doctorate of Medicine from Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina.

In June 2011, Dr. Winter completed a dual 5-year Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine resident training program at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Delaware, where he also served as Chief Resident. He is board eligible in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Winter joined Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in July 2011 and is primarily based at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

ln his spare time, Dr. Winter enjoys time with his family, as well as playing the guitar and piano. He is very pleased to be back to his native home; North Carolina.

 



Robert L. Young, D.O., FAAEM
New Hanover Regional

Dr. Young received his Bachelor of Science from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, and his Doctor of Osteopathy from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Dr. Young completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he was Academic Chief Resident. Upon completing his oral boards in the fall of 2011, Dr. Young is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Young joined ECEP II, PA, in July 2011 and practices primarily at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Young's hobbies include softball, skiing, golf, and movies.
